With Justin Timberlake’s headlining of the next Super Bowl in February, it’s almost impossible not to remember the last time he was on the halftime show, alongside Janet Jackson in 2004, when he infamously ripped a piece of her garment, exposing her breast and causing nationwide commotion.
Regarding the incident and how Janet was blacklisted and he got away unscathed, Justin told DJ Zane Lowe from London’s Beats 1 radio that he “stumbled through it. To be honest, I had my wires crossed. “It’s just something that you have to look back on and go, ‘OK, you can’t change what’s happened, but you can move forward and learn from it.”
Justin also said he and Janet have “absolutely” reconciled. “I don’t know that a lot of people know that, I don’t think it’s my job to [discuss] that because you value the relationships that you do have with people.”
As Janet fans, we’re eager to see any kind of apology during his halftime show, if not an invitation to Janet herself to take the stage.
